Your bird pictures are getting to be real great. Since I don't know birds from the american continent that well, I may be wrong about the type. It looks to me like a muscovy duck, which is a domesticated 'Cairina moschata'. The wild ancestor comes from somewhere Paraguay to Mexiko. A lot of people refer to the Cairina as a muscovy and I am not sure what the correct naming would be for the wild Cairina and the domesticated muscovy.
John Eagle: Thanks for the background. I looked up the Cairina moschata and you are right it does look like this duck. The new lens is a big help in getting these shots.
I would think it is a muscovy duck too. Fabulous shot!
