photoblog image San Francisco Zoo

San Francisco Zoo

The rain stopped and the sun came out for one day (it is raining again). I took this as the sign the little thrush was looking for and ran to the SF Zoo where I would have a captive audience (sorry about the pun).

I can only imagine encountering these animals in the wild or a national wildlife park so for now I present to you the inhabitants of the San Francisco Zoo.

This young giraffe was intrigued by my camera and came very close as you can see.

Don't you love how the tilt of the head always makes us think they're inquisitive. I love it.
John Eagle: I do think they are inquisitive. At least the young ones who are still figuring it all out. To what degree I don't know. Thanks.

A good picture. For my part I don't like zoos. I know it serves a purpose especially where endangered species are concerned. For the rest it is the look in their eyes - so listless. Now I have said it, and won't trouble your blog with that again smile
John Eagle: Thanks. I agree with you. Hadn't been to a Zoo in years. Once I got there and looked in the animals eyes I was sad. I can see Wildlife parks where there is semi-open range but zoos are difficult to justify for the larger animals.
I really like this its awesome.
John Eagle: Thank you.
