photoblog image Birdie

Birdie

Just a crow. Shot when I was at Fort Point, San Francisco photographing the surfers. He was intrigued with me and let me get close enough to get a good shot.

I just noticed a few white specks. One on the beak and two on the breast. Don't seem like they are part of the photo. I don't see them on any of my other photos or the lens and the shutter is self cleaning. Will have to see if the specks appear again later on.

Enlarge the picture > 100% and check the specks out. It may be crumbs or sand. My picture http://louis.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Southern_carmine_bee-eater_/ had something similar - on the beak and on the breast. Closer inspection revealed they were sand pebbles. The specs on the crow is also the wrong colour for equipment dirt.
I am still battling to get a crow picture. Over here they fly away, way too quick. Great shot.
John Eagle: Thanks. I enlarged and the white specks have shadows so I guess they are sand or something. This crow was hanging out in a touristy spot with the seagulls so it must be used to people. It stood its ground and let me get close.
Fabulous shot. I love crows and have lots and lots of shots of them but none this close.
John Eagle: Thanks. This fellow let me get fairly close. I was surprised. He probably thought I had some food for him.
