Fort Point Surf

Took the opportunity to try out my new camera and lens on the surfers at Fort Point at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Perfect location. The wave breaks right under the bridge and along the wave wall. So spectators are right on top of the surfers. No need to be in the water freezing like the surfers ( 8'C (46'F) or having an 800 mm lens.

I was really happy with the responsiveness of the 50D and the sharpness of the images from the L lens.

what a great action shot! he looks so serious. very nice capture
John Eagle: Thanks. Serious and determined. They have to stay vigilant because there is so much going on... fishing boats, sail boats, mega-freight ships, wind surfers, para surfers, rip tides and most importantly BIG rocks right where they catch the waves.

A real great one - I can see that you are going to be happy smile
John Eagle: Thanks, Yup this camera and lens has me excited. It's almost like starting all over and not knowing a damn thing. Feels good to be challenged and learning again.
