Stare Down

Taken in the rafters of my dad's barn. This is a California Great Horned Owl. There were 2 of them. All the barn owls take off when these guys arrive. Something to do with not wanted to become dinner.

They just sat there. Seeing that I was of no danger to them they went back to dozing.

We have something similar and it is called the Eagle owl. Not stripes but spots. No wonder the others will flee from a fierce bird like that.

Great shot from down under - no markings on the camera - hopefully.
John Eagle: no markings as in poop drops? smile

yup the camera and I got away clean
nice job, wonderful timing. this one does have a mean expression in the eyes
John Eagle: Thanks, I think he was a little upset that I had woken him up.
