photoblog image Italian Street Painting Festival

Italian Street Painting Festival

This artist did an under painting of green.

I have never done this. It was definitely interesting to watch the process and outcome.

From what I understand there are several reasons for doing an under-painting. One is to make the painting more luminescent and richer. Another is to "setup" or define the shadows, mid-tones and highlights.

I've never heard of such a thing, John, for sidewalk art. WOW. That makes the whole process even longer than it already is!
