Dawn Patrol

Sonoma Hot Air Balloon Classic

These early risers begin their weekend mornings before daylight to launch at 5:30 a.m.

Remined me of BurniongMan, the early years.

When we arrived - at 5:30 they were ready to go. Only one problem. Fog. A lot of it. They
are not allowed to take off in fog, so they waited and waited... The remainder of the morning
consisted of waiting and tethered balloons rides. Which actually created a very fun atmosphere
of fog and balloons going up and down on tethers bumping into on another. When we left around
8:30 the sun peaked through and  they announced the go ahead to launch.

By the way I am celebrating a new camera :)

I just purchased a Canon Rebel XT. It only had 15 shots so basically brand new. Now I have
a whole bunch of  learning to do but loving it!

Congratulations on your new camera, John. I'll be paying attention! smile

We had the good fortune of watching a hot-air balloon launch from beginning to end while in the Pocono Mountains a few years back. It was totally fun and educational. Didn't have any fog to worry about. But it was definitely a sight to behold as the different colored balloons started taking off. I'll never forget it!

Balloons always make good images, nicely seen here. Hope you enjoy your new camera, I have had the UK equivalent for about a year and am still learning.

Only 15 shots? Sounds like you bought it from a second-hand car dealer smile

Great shot in the misty morning. Crowd seems to be standing close to get warmed up.
