A swather (also called a "windrower") cuts hay or small grain crops and forms them into a windrow. Here we see one intact swather. In the background left is another that has been used for parts. I counted 5 swaters on the farm 3 of which were for parts.
This was taken early morning 5:30ish.

Your dad must have had quite an operation going in his heyday, John. Have you ever counted how many machines he has there? It's like a museum!!!
John Eagle: There are close to hundreds. Old and new. I think it is less expensive to buy various equipment for parts rather than buy a whole new piece of machinery. Thus you have 3 of this and 6 of that laying around.
So you get up early on the farm. Must be all the fresh air.
Great picture.
John Eagle: Very wide, although there are bigger Swathers out there. How would you like to have this to mow your lawn? What is strange is in the city I wake up and roll over and go back to sleep getting up is not easy. Back on the farm I wake up at 5:30-6ish and off I go.
