photoblog image Matsu Temple

Matsu Temple

Mazu (Matsu) is the Chinese Goddess of the Sea who protects fishermen and sailors. I took this
outside the Matsu temple off Grant St. in an alley way - Beckett St. The temple was having a
celebration and in the alley were several puppeteers preparing for the parade later that night.
This young man stepped into the viewfinder at just the right moment.

Matsu is a goddess and looks like a male with heavy eyebrows and all? Must be rough on the sea. smile

Good frame, even if it just happened on you.
John Eagle: Actually I don't think this puppet is Matsu. I could be wrong. Not sure what character or figure this puppet is. The temple where these puppeteers were preparing is a Matsu temple. You should see Matsu.

I will post her tomorrow. I think she would be a good match for Neptune. Probably could kick his #@*!!.

Yeah I was fortunate. I as taking several shots of the puppets when this kid stepped up. At fist I was yelling (to myself of course) get out of the picture... But then... I did crop this a little.

I like this, the expression of the young lad adds to the intrigue of the image. Mal
John Eagle: Yeah, I thought is was a nice juxtaposition of reality and its symbolic representation.

A perfect juxtaposition of the two, John! And great colors of the goddess.
John Eagle: Thank you. Actually I don't think this is the goddess. I will post the goddess tomorrow.
