Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours/Musée Marguerit
Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel ("Our Lady of Good Help") often called the Sailors' Church is a church in the district of Old Montreal. One of the oldest churches in Montreal, it was built in 1771 over the ruins of an earlier chapel.
St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, the first teacher in the colony of Ville-Marie and the founder of the Congregation of Notre-Dame, rallied the colonists to build a chapel in 1655.
This shot was rushed. No excuses though. I wanted the chapel to be centered in the shot and not at an angle, which meant shooting from the center of the street. Well, it was evening, dark and I had to stand on the lower slope of the street. Meaning the cars coming over the hill could not see me until they had breached the hill and were right on top of me. Several times right in the middle of the timer I had to snatch the tri-pod and step aside. I tried and tried and tried until finally I got tired and gave up. Next time I will have to go late at night.
