photoblog image Closse Raphaël-Lambert

Closse Rapha√ęl-Lambert

The Place d'Armes monument to Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the work by Louis-Philippe Hébert.

This figure is Closse Rapha√ęl-Lambert. Born in Saint-Denis de Mogues in France. He came to Canada with Maisonneuve in 1642, and was made sergeant-major of the garrison of Montreal, acting as notary in times of peace. He became noted for his skill in fighting the Native tribes.

This is one of five figures which adorn the base. I took this mid morning 8ish, overcast skies. I liked the similarity of color between the building and sculpture yet the contrast in texture. The building did have a few florescent lights showing through the windows. I edited these out. They distracted me. I figure with the right lens or filter they could have been minimized.

I like the interplay of the sculpture with the geometry of the windows.
John Eagle: Thanks you. I like that as well. The contrast or interplay of the two different element yet similar color.

The old geezer against the backdrop makes for a great picture. Some filter may have done the trick, but then you may have had alck of light issues with the face of the sculpture. Oh well.
John Eagle: Thank you. Some times Photoshop is a must.
