photoblog image The Palais des congrès de Montréal

The Palais des congrès de Montréal

In response to the Olympic Games in 1976, 12 new hotels were built in Montréal and 5,000 rooms added to the city's accommodation capacity. In light of this development, the Québec government decided in 1977 to give Montréal a convention centre. The Palais des congrès began operating in May 1983.

Very cool but difficult to photograph. The entire surface is colored glass. I think better lens and possibly longer exposure times are required to capture the true essence of this building. None the less I like this image, thought it is unique and wanted to post it.

Lovely colours.
John Eagle: Thank you.
Very well done, nice colors and perfect composition !
John Eagle: Thanks. The composition was a struggle believe it or not. Getting a decent angle. Trying to show off the glass against the sky etc., etc
Excellent photo. Not many photographs I see HAVE to be in color, but this is one that must be in color to appreciate. Reminds me of a giant rubiks cube in the sky.
John Eagle: Thanks. I like the comparison. This should be the Rubiks museum.

Call it the Rainbow Palace, John! You have captured this building splendidly, as well as the one it's reflecting. I especially like the angle/perspective. My very first thought when this opened up was of the colored cellophane we used years ago. Man! Talk about memories!
John Eagle: Thanks. And just what did you use the colored cellophane for??? wink It is kinda op-artish.
