The Great Peace of Montreal of 1701
The monument to Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve. The work by Louis-Philippe Hébert includes several bronze figures commemorating the Ville-Marie period.
This fellow is one of he figures on the monument. He looks like an Iroquois to me.
I took this at night with the Twilight setting which gives an interesting brown hue. I played with the levels and blurred the background a little to help offset the figure.
A little history... In 1701, after nearly a hundred years of recurrent warfare, French and natives joined together in a spectacular summit to sign a treaty that would end the atrocities and guarantee peace for more than a half century. This has become known as the The Great Peace of Montreal of 1701.
