photoblog image C'est La Vie

C'est La Vie

That's Life. La basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal and the Place d'Armes monument to Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the founder of Montréal. Taken at 6:00 pm after sunset. Very cold, very windy. My tri-pod blew over, battery died, memory card full... C'est La Vie. I still got this shot. Note to myself: Buy back-up battery and memory card.

First gotta get used to brown sky. The blues are stunning, the blurring flags intriguing and the rest crisp and sharp. Funny thing, when i move my head to the right it seems as if the towers are leaning to each other.

Great post
John Eagle: I like the brown sky. I think the blue makes it. To me this image looks surreal or manufactured but its not. This is straight from the camera to the desktop to posting. No effects, cropping or anything. This is the twilight setting on my camera. I love the surreal color effects it gives.

I LOVE the brown color tones, John, and the perspective from which you took this. I agree that the blues of the windows make this...as do the reds in the flags. Glad you had a keeper after all the camera dead-ends!
John Eagle: Thank You. I love the brown colors as well. This photo is straight off the camera. No Photoshop, no levels, sharpening or cropping. Sometimes I get lucky. If anything I might go back and soften the sky, reduce the color to allow the basilique and monument to pop a little.
